Dr. Anwar Usman is currently working in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Gadong, Brunei. He obtained a Ph.D. from Tohoku University, Japan, in 2000 and he extended his research to several institutions, including Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia), Max- Born Institut fur Kurzzeitspektroskopie in Forschungsverbund in Berlin (Germany), Osaka University (Japan), Ecole Normale Superieure de Chimie Paris (France), National Chiao Tung University (Taiwan), and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Saudi Arabia). He has been awarded by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Researcher Scholarship of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Wolfgang von Leibniz Foschungstippendium/Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD), the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) & L'Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), and the National Science Council (NSC) of Taiwan. His research topics mainly include wastewater remediation, adsorption, photocatalysis, advanced catalytic ozonation, biopolymers, photophysics, photochemistry, functionalized quantum dots, and nanoparticles.
