Hinkley Point C

At Hinkley Point C we're building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes.

Unit 2 Dome Lift

Watch the world’s largest land crane, “Big Carl” place the giant dome onto Hinkley Point C’s second reactor building. It’s a major step forward for the power station’s identical second unit – which is being built 20-30% faster thanks to innovations and experience from Unit 1.

Hinkley Point C is the biggest environmental project in Britain – it’s needed to help Britain Achieve Net Zero.

The reactor

Hinkley Point C will be the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. The planned twin unit UK EPR is capable of generating 3,260MW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years.

Suppliers

A large number are already working on, or have become preferred bidders for, Hinkley Point C and some firms have successfully come together to form joint ventures to work on the project.

Environment

Hinkley Point C’s contribution to fighting climate change means that during its 60 years of operation it will have a large, positive impact on the environment. Sustainability and environmental protection are also key features in the construction itself.

Education

We've set up dedicated education programmes designed to support the Hinkley Point C workforce and develop the UK’s industrial capability. Whether you’re still at school or are thinking about a career change - there's something for all ages.
