Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine factors influencing career success of women accountants in Iran. Survey. This study is the assessment questionnaire. With the review of previous research, a conceptual model was developed according to this model, a questionnaire with 57 questions was developed and verified its validity and reliability. This study attempted to assess the effect of factors on the career success of women accountants. The success rate was measured by the number of questions and the questions related to the success of each respondent was given a score of success and then examined the correlation between test scores and success factors on the success of this research were analyzed. The results indicate that individual factors, the balance between work and family and having a mentor and participate in social networks The factors affecting accountant women's career success and career success have a significant relationship, If social factors and employment trends are not significantly associated with career success of women accountants.

The low number of public accountants in Indonesia gets serious attention both from government and professional organizations of public accountants. Refers to social cognitive career theory (Social Cognitive Career Theory). This study aims to determine the influence of factors influencing the career selection of undergraduate students majoring in accounting at Mercu Buana University and University of Indonesia. The independent variables in this study are professional training, parental influence, and student perceptions while the dependent variable is career selection as a public accountant. The research sample used convenience sampling by distributing questionnaires to respondents by chance / incidental meeting with researchers. The number of samples used was 88 respondents. The analytical method used is binary logistic regression using SPSS version 20.

The purpose of this reseasrch was to know what factors influence accounting students in choosing a career to become a public accountant. Factors that influence career choice to become a Public Accountant are assessed by variables of reward/salary, professional training, professional recognition, social values, work environment, labor market considerations, and personality. The Effect of Accounting Knowledge, Family Environment, and Labor Market Considerations on Accounting Student Career Interest as Public Accountants

Choosing a career is certainly an early stage for students in forming a career, especially as a public accountant. Currently, students' interest in choosing a career as a public accountant is still minimal. To obtain a public accounting career, of course, students need to have good accounting knowledge, support from the family environment as well as labor market considerations. The purpose of this study is to provide empirical evidence related to the influence of accounting knowledge, family environment, and labor market considerations on student interest in choosing a career as a public accountant. The population in this study were all students of the accounting study program of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University in the batch 2018 totaling 235 people. The sampling method used to determine the number of samples is the calculation results using the Slovin formula. The sample used in this study was 70 people. Analysis of the data used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that accounting knowledge has no effect on student interest in choosing a career as a public accountant, which this study does not support the theory of planned behavior, while family environment and labor market considerations have a positive effect on student interest in choosing a career as a public accountant, so this study supports planned behavior theory and expectancy theory.

Student's career choice is influenced by various factors including stereotypes and perceptions of a career. Currently, the number of graduates applying to be a public accountant decreased from year to year. This research aims to determine the dominance factors that influence of the public accountant profession and non public accountant selected by accounting department students and profession accounting students. The research sample is determined by purposive sampling and stratified nonproportioned random sampling with criterion that is, the students of accounting department who have finished of study subject Auditing and Professional Accoutnting Education students (PAE). The data collected is classified as primer data which is obtained by questionnaire distribution and secondary data which is obtained by non behavioral observation. Data processing is conducted by using discriminant analysis technique. The result showed that the most significant factor affecting the selection accounting department students and PAE choose their profession as public accountants and non public accountants are number of job offers and work environment. Significant factors that influence the selection of the public accounting profession and non public accountants when viewed by gender is the type of work and student perceptions about the benefits of the public accountant. The differences become significant factors in influencing selection between accounting department students with PAE students in choosing the profession as a public accountant and public accountant non showed no significant factors that influence the selection of the public accounting profession.

Perceptions On Accounting Career: A Study Among The Secondary School Students In A Regional Kelantan State

This study analyses the perceptions of secondary school students about the accounting profession in Malaysia. Fifty five form three and form four students who are taking accounting/commerce subjects were met. Individual-s perception data were collected through questionnaires. The results at the secondary school level suggest that the stereotypical negative image of the accountant ends, with students expressing the positive view of the work of an accountant. There were also gender differences in perceiving the accounting profession. Overall, the results of the study suggest that we are now in line in projecting positive and accurate perceptions of the accounting profession to secondary school students.

The Factors Determining Professional Career of Females from Different Social Groups: Reflexive Attitude

This article analyzes the factors determining professional careers of females from different social groups (convict, unemployed and those who achieved successful career). It is decided to classify those factors into two groups: subjective (education and personal qualities); and objective (age and parents' professional career). This article deals with a scientific problem formulated in the following questions: (1) How do females from different social groups (convict, long-term unemployed and successfully working females) assess the role of personal qualities and parents' professional careers for their personal careers? (2) What factors, in females' opinion, mostly determine the professional career? The aim of the survey is to reveal the convict, long-term unemployed and successfully working females' attitudes to the professional career formation factors. It has been found that females' education usually correlates with their attitudes to personal qualities, which may condition professional career, rather than their age. It means that education is an important factor determining different social group females' attitudes to personal qualities which are important for professional career. Personal education may be improved. Therefore, the role of educational processes becomes more important for professional career conception, professional career development and the formation of different social groups. Analyzing the attitudes of successfully working, long-term unemployed and convicting females to parents' professional careers, statistically important differences were not found. Only one statistically important but weak correlation was found when analyzing the relation between females' education, age and the attitudes to parents' professional careers. It means that females' education and age more often correlates with their attitudes to personal qualities, being important for professional careers, rather than with the attitudes to parents' professional careers.

This research aims to determine the effect of the work environment, financial rewards, and type A personality on the choice of a public accountant career. The subjects of this study were accounting students, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana class of 2017 and 2018. This study used a quantitative approach with a linear regression testing method. Accountant as a Career Choice from The Perspective of Secondary School and Undergraduate Accounting Students in Malaysia

This study examines the perception of accounting students in Malaysia towards the accounting profession and whether these perceptions are influenced by the gender and student categories (secondary school and undergraduates). This study was a cross-sectional survey of 156 undergraduate accounting students from School of Business and Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and 115 secondary school accounting students from Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (SAMTTAR). A self-administered structured questionnaire was developed to collect primary data. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as mean, and Mann-Whitney test through SPSS 22. The results of this study show that, generally, female respondents have higher perception on accounting job requirement and reputation compare to male respondents. Additionally, undergraduate students have a higher perception on the accounting job requirement and negative behaviour of accountant compare to secondary school student. This research contributes to the academic debate surrounding the concerns of the future of accounting profession. It also provides an idea to the accounting regulatory body, professional accounting bodies, and educators as well other stakeholders to look on the job requirement and improvement on the negative image of accountant for the benefit of the profession in Malaysia.

The apparent conflict between family life and an accounting career appears to be negatively impacting the retention of women in public accounting (Stockard, 1990). Typically, accounting entails long hours, travel, and a stressful business environment. For many women, these negative factors are intensified by family obligations and the pressures of striving for acceptance in a traditionally male-dominated profession. This investigation set out to directly survey women in the accounting profession regarding their perceptions of their own career barriers in their organizations. In addition, the study was intended to identify possible reasons for women accountants to leave their organizations and ways to retain them. The study was intended to develop a survey questionnaire that would quantify and measure perceptions of the glass ceiling. Following the review of a wide body of literature about "glass ceiling" this study established a conceptual model which related the impediments to career progression. This conceptual model leads to the formulation of an empirical schema and the generation of testable hypotheses. The following measurable constructs or variables were established: (1) exclusionary environment; (2) family responsibility; (3) workplace benefit; (4) job flexibility; (5) corporate policies; (6) job stress; and (7) job demand. This study has practical implications for employers in considering the needs and problems of women accountants in the work force. Alleviating key problems should help employers acquire and retain women accountants for a longer time, thereby maximizing their hiring and training investment. More importantly, dealing with these issues would help intelligent and capable women to continue a career as a professional accountant.

This study aims to assess the barriers faced by female accountants in career advancement and progression in Sudan. The study assesses whether cultural factors, social factors, organizational factors or other individual factors are perceived to be hindering women career progression. A survey was designed to collect data from a sample of 50 women working in audit firms and commercial companies. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the firms with the highest and those with the lowest women representation. Eight audit firms and ten commercial companies and banks were selected by the researcher. Questionnaires were used to collect data. Data was analysed using simple frequencies. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors affecting career advancement of female accountants in accounting professional practice in Nigeria. The study also adopts a survey research design. Even though the study covers the population of accountants in professional practice in Nigeria, a sample of a hundred (100) qualified and non-qualified accountants including male and female was selected purposively from the big four accounting firms in Lagos State, Nigeria. The research instrument used is the questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed using chi-square. It was discovered that family responsibilities do not affect career advancement of male and female accountants. Also, the findings revealed that gender does not influence the access of accountants to opportunities within the job. Finally, it was deduced that gender influences the choice of continuity of accountants in the professional practice of accounting. It is recommended that accounting firms should provide female accountants with more flexible work schedules.

There are claims that work style, networking, pressure from dependants, support from spouses and managers are positively associated with career progression of female accountants. This study adopted survey approach to examine the relationship between these four variables and career progression of female accountants in Rivers State, Nigeria. Using regression analysis on the data gathered from 122 professional accountants in Rivers State, the result indicates that work style, pressure from family members and support from partners and managers positively influence female career progression in Rivers State.
