Given its advantages, Islamic advocation and guidance on philanthropy as the basis of Islamic charity, can be found in numerous verses of the Holy Quran and Prophetic traditions. Be that as it may, philanthropy is commonly associated with adulthood, specifically adults who have attained maturity and financial stability. This paper offers a different insight by emphasizing the importance of philanthropy education towards children. The earlier children are taught on the gift of giving, the more it becomes a matter of practice and habit that continues into adulthood. Using a qualitative research methodology, this paper uses secondary sources to gain a broader understanding on the linkage between philanthropy and children. This paper first explores Islamic perspective on philanthropy which includes the modes and advantages. This is followed by highlighting the importance of inculcating philanthropy values among children which benefits include encouraging positive value and attitude, enhancing the ability to understand others, developing social problem-solving skills, and building charitable citizens. Finally, it presents recommendations grounded on five important principles on how children philanthropy education can be improved via education and family institutions.

A metaanalysis was used as a research approach, and 17 studies with a total population of 4575 persons (mean = 269.118) were included in this study. Previous studies that employed the TPB to predict the authors summarized WI. WI is determined by Attitudes about Waqf, Subjective Norms (SN), and Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC). The fundamental implication of this meta-analysis is to deconstruct the core of Waqf and its determinants for Islamic financial institutions and Waqf Institutions to promote the practice of this behaviour in their respective fields. However, a notable weakness in the present literature is a potential "cooperation bias," in which individuals are inclined to overstate their WI. Therefore, this is the first meta-analysis to explore the TPB's predictive value for identifying WI. While there are various discrepancies noted in the research that employed the TPB in the Waqf setting, the outcomes of this research have been compiled and presented.

Nevertheless, in the state of necessity (darurah), the prohibited is allowed with special boundaries, in order to preserve sustainability of life. However, the dispute among prominent scholars on this matter has led to doubt among the Muslim community. Therefore, whenever an issue arises, the Muslims become confused and are hesitant to consume food, which can be life-threatening. Thus, this article proposes a hierarchy of consumption for prohibited food elements during darurah as a sensible guide for the Muslims. For that purpose, the classical prominent jurists’ works are analysed to inductively propose two major reclassifications of prohibited food elements. Finally, based on the reclassification, a hierarchical model of consumption for prohibited food elements is presented as a summary of guidelines for the Muslims.

Nevertheless, during the Islamic Golden Age, products of the Islamic world were highly demanded and recognized as the best products available. Based on historical records, products' quality during those times is well-maintained via the functional institution of Hisba. The historical compendiums had narrated on the systematic structure of manuals in quality conformance for various industries of those times. The artisans and merchants were reported to be supervised on the quality of output by enforcers of Hisba, known as Muhtasib, 'Arif and guilds. With particular emphasis on the institution of Hisba, this article examines the importance of quality from an Islamic perspective. This article also analyzes some aspects of quality assurance that has been practiced during the Islamic golden times. Employing a systematic literature review and content analysis, selected historical compendiums are explored for the abovementioned purposes.

The survey is grounded on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) but extends to include other relevant factors, thus the items’ validity and reliability need to be confirmed. The instrument consists of 40 items vested under seven dimensions; attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, altruism, financial stability, religiosity and trust. Based on the analysis, item polarity indicates that the point measure correlation for the 40 items measuring determinants of philanthropic behavior is between 0.26 to 0.60. Overall item reliability and item separation is 0.97 and 6.05 respectively, while for person reliability and person separation is 0.85 and 2.34 respectively, considered good and productive for the intended measurement. In terms of items fit, results show that only five items are found misfit and need further scrutinization prior to removal of th...

Some tend to interchange it with taghrir and ghabn. While others suggest that the doctrine of tadlis and misrepresentation are so closely interrelated. This article suggests that the doctrine of tadlis is so akin to taghrir and ghabn which mean fraud. It also suggests that the effect of fraud in Islamic transactions is that the defrauded party may rescind the contract by exercising the option of fraud (khiyar al-tadlis).

Distribution of matrimonial assets or assets between spouses is often associated with unfairness ... more Distribution of matrimonial assets or assets between spouses is often associated with unfairness to one of the parties, especially to the non-working wife. This is due to the fact that the current provision on the distribution of matrimonial assets emphasizes the contribution of the parties involved as the sole criteria in determining the proportion of their share. Though the law has not been amended to address this issue, it is observed that a transfer of ownership through hibah for the benefit of family members during marriage provides an alternative to the fairer distribution of matrimonial assets. Therefore, this study is undertaken to examine the applicability of hibah in dividing the assets through court practices. For that purpose, the study adopts a qualitative method which involves an analysis of unreported cases within the time frame of 2000-2012 collected from six zones representing Syariah Courts in Malaysia where analysis is made based on several variables such as types...

It offers a variety of analyses on the instrument’s validity and reliability, as well as analysis on the rating scale design of a measurement scale. Thus, employing Rasch scale calibration analysis, the primary purpose of this article is to empirically analyze the rating scale categories applied in a scale to assess the application of Islamic values in quality management. In the literature, a plethora of Islamic values applied in the context of quality management have been conceptually elaborated in the literature. However, empirical data on that matter is scarce. Yet, an appropriate instrument could not be located. This article briefly explains the scale development process and initially proposes 60 items and eight dimensions. Applying the Rasch model, this article specifically analyses the appropriateness and effectiveness of the rating scale categories based on several indicators pointed by Rasch model. For that purp...

Meanwhile, the non-Muslims are also becoming aware of the quality of halal meat, hence the access towards halal meat and meat-based products are increasing as well. However, the local production of halal meat is insufficient to cater the demand and this leads to the dependency on imported meat to ensure that halal meat is made available and accessible to the society in Malaysia. This paper discusses the challenges and opportunities of halal meat and meat-based products for the sustainability of the halal food security in Malaysia. Document searching technique based on the available literature was used to fulfil the objectives of the study. The study found that the complex halal meat chain with several government agencies concerning halal matters lead to the inefficient treatment of maintaining the halal integrity. For this reason, focusing on th...

The purpose of this research is to delve into the lessons of Islamic environmental philanthropy outlined in Kitab Al-Jidar and Kitab Al-I'lan Bi Ahkam Al-Bunyan. This paper adds to the body of knowledge by focusing on environmental philanthropy in the traditional Islamic built environment, which has received little attention in the literature. To achieve the research objective, qualitative research methods were used, while content analysis was used for analysis. According to the findings of this study, the environmental philanthropy implemented in Kitab Al-Jidar and Kitab Al-I'lan is concerned with both environmental and social sustainability. It is hoped that this paper will provide new ideas and guidelines for future environmental conservation.
