Description
도 1은, 각각의 휠이 타이어 캐비티 내에 장착되는 TPMS 센서를 갖는 타이어 압력 모니터링 시스템(TPMS)을 갖는 차륜(wheeled) 차량의 개략도이다.

Claims (15)
- 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스(tire mounted device)의 배향(orientation)을 휠 림(wheel rim) - 상기 휠 림 상에 상기 타이어가 피팅되어 휠을 형성함 - 에 대해 결정하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스는 적어도 하나의 축을 따라 가속도를 검출하기 위한 적어도 하나의 센서를 포함하고, 상기 방법은,
상기 휠이 지정된 배향에 있고 회전하지 않는 상태에서, 상기 적어도 하나의 센서를 사용하여 수직축을 따라 가속도의 극성을 결정하는 단계;
상기 결정된 극성에 따라, 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스가 제 1 절대 배향 또는 제 2 절대 배향 중 어느 배향에 있는지를 결정하는 단계;
상기 타이에 장착되는 디바이스가 상기 휠 림에 대한 제 1 배향 또는 상기 휠 림에 대한 제 2 배향 중 어느 배향에 있는지를 결정하기 위해 상기 결정된 절대 배향을 상기 지정된 배향과 상관시키는 단계를 포함하는 것인, 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스의 배향 결정 방법. - 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 가속도의 극성을 결정하는 단계는, 상기 수직축을 따른 가속도가 중력 가속도와 실질적으로 동일한 크기를 갖는지의 여부를 결정하는 단계를 포함하는 것인, 방법.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스는 상기 타이어 내의 유체 압력을 측정하기 위한 압력 센서를 포함하고, 상기 가속도의 극성을 결정하는 단계는 상기 타이어의 팽창(inflation)을 상기 압력 센서를 사용하여 검출한 것에 응답하여 수행되며,
상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스는 무선 수신기를 포함하고, 상기 가속도의 극성을 결정하는 단계는, 상기 휠 림에 대한 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스의 배향이 결정되어야 함을 나타내는 신호를 상기 무선 수신기를 통해 수신한 것에 응답하여 수행되는 것인, 방법. - 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 타이어에 대한 제 1 배향 또는 제 2 배향 중 어느 한 배향으로 상기 타이어에 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스를 장착하는 단계를 더 포함하는, 방법.
- 제 4 항에 있어서, 상기 타이어에 대한 상기 제 1 배향 또는 상기 제 2 배향 각각에서, 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스는 상기 디바이스가 장착되는 표면에 법선인(normal) 축을 중심으로 상기 타이어에 대한 상기 제 1 배향 및 상기 제 2 배향 중 다른 배향에 대해 180°만큼 회전되는 것인, 방법.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 휠의 지정된 배향은, 상기 휠 림의 전방 페이스(front face)가 위쪽을 향하는 제 1 지정된 배향, 또는 상기 휠 림이 아래쪽을 향하는 제 2 지정된 배향 중 어느 한 배향인 것인, 방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 휠이 상기 제 1 지정된 배향 또는 상기 제 2 지정된 배향 중 어느 배향에 있는지의 표시(indication)를 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스에 제공하는 단계를 더 포함하는, 방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 상관시키는 단계는, 상기 결정된 절대 배향을, 상기 휠의 상기 제 1 지정된 배향 또는 상기 제 2 지정된 배향 중 어느 배향과든 상관시키는 단계를 포함하는 것인, 방법.
- 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 적어도 하나의 센서는 상기 휠의 회전축과 평행한 적어도 제 2 축을 따라 가속도를 측정하도록 구성되고, 상기 가속도의 극성을 결정하는 단계는 상기 제 2 축을 따라 가속도의 극성을 결정하는 단계를 포함하는 것인, 방법.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 휠의 지정된 배향에서, 상기 휠은, 직립하고(upright) 그리고 축 - 상기 축을 따라 상기 적어도 하나의 센서가 가속도를 측정하도록 구성됨 - 이 수직으로 배치되는 각위치(angular position)에 있는 것인, 방법.
- 제 10 항에 있어서, 상기 각위치는, 상기 축 - 상기 축을 따라 상기 적어도 하나의 센서가 가속도를 측정하도록 구성됨 - 이 수직으로 배치되는 제 1 각위치 및 제 2 각위치 중 지정된 한 각위치인 것인, 방법.
- 제 10 항에 있어서, 상기 휠이 상기 축 - 상기 축을 따라 상기 적어도 하나의 센서가 가속도를 측정하도록 구성됨 - 이 수직으로 배치되는 제 1 각위치 또는 제 2 각위치 중 어느 각위치에 있는지의 표시를 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스에 제공하는 단계를 더 포함하는, 방법.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 휠이 차량으로부터 제거되었고/제거되었거나 상기 타이어가 수축되었다고 결정한 것에 응답하여, 상기 타이어에 장착되는 디바이스가 상기 휠 림에 대한 상기 제 1 배향 또는 상기 휠 림에 대한 상기 제 2 배향 중 어느 배향에 있는지를 나타내는 데이터를 삭제하는 단계를 더 포함하며,
상기 휠이 상기 차량으로부터 제거되었다고 결정하는 것은, 상기 휠이 옆으로 누워 위치되었다(located on its side)고 결정하는 것을 포함하는 것인, 방법. - 제 13 항에 있어서, 상기 휠이 옆으로 누워 위치되었다고 결정하는 것은, 상기 휠이 옆으로 누워 있을 때 수직축에 대응하는 축을 따른 가속도를 상기 적어도 하나의 센서를 사용하여 측정하고, 상기 측정된 가속도를 중력 가속도와 비교하는 것을 포함하는 것인, 방법.
- 제 13 항에 있어서, 상기 휠이 옆으로 누워 위치되었다고 결정하는 것은, 상기 휠이 옆으로 누워 있을 때 수평축에 대응하는 축을 따른 가속도를 상기 적어도 하나의 센서를 사용하여 측정하고, 상기 가속도가 0과 동일한지, 또는 실질적으로 0과 동일한지, 또는 임계값보다 작은지의 여부를 결정하는 것을 포함하는 것인, 방법.
