Sign up for the affiliate program

Other than earning cold hard cash, the best part about the Coda affiliate program is how easy it is to sign up, manage your link, and track your earnings. Coda uses a platform called PartnerStack to manage our affiliate program. As a first step, you will be asked to create an account through PartnerStack.

To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Visit coda.io/invite and click Get Started.

  2. You will be redirected to PartnerStack’s site to create your profile. You will be able to sign up with your Google account or with your email address. Make sure you sign up using the same email address as your Coda account.

    1. Note: If you have multiple Coda accounts, choose whichever Coda account you want to enroll in the affiliate program, and use the email address associated with that account.

  3. Next, submit your company’s name or simply use your name instead. Follow any additional prompts to finish your profile setup.

  4. Once you complete your profile, a message will appear at the top of your PartnerStack dashboard, asking you to confirm Coda’s terms of service. Please read, check the box to accept, then click Confirm agreement.

  5. To find your affiliate link, navigate to the Your programs section, then find and click Coda. You will be directed to the Coda program.

  6. Within the Link section, you will find a Default link already generated. This is the custom affiliate link that you can share to start earning through Coda. Click the copy icon to the right of the link to copy it to your clipboard, then share as desired.

    1. 💡 Tip: You can also share directly via X, LinkedIn, or email using the icons below the link field.

Whenever someone clicks on your link, they will be directed to Coda’s homepage. Once you start sharing your link, you’ll be able to view your stats through your main dashboard in PartnerStack, including top-line metrics for each program, total rewards, and link activity.

Ways to earn

Earn through your affiliate link

Once you have your affiliate link, you can begin sharing it with friends, family, followers, and more to start earning through Coda. When a new user signs up to Coda through that link, you’ll receive $10 in Coda credit. When a new user upgrades to a paid plan (Pro, Team, or Enterprise self-serve), you will receive 20% of Coda’s revenue for their first year with us.

📣 To get your affiliate link, check out the section above.

Earn through published docs

With the Coda affiliate program, you can earn credit and cash by promoting your own published docs. You earn credit when someone signs up for Coda through your doc and cash when they upgrade to a paid plan.

If you’re already signed up for the affiliate program, you will automatically earn a $10 Coda credit when a user signs up from your published doc or through your affiliate link. Additionally, if the workspace created by that user then upgrades to a paid plan, you will get 20% of the first-year revenue as cash.

Signups through the sign up modal

To increase the chances of someone signing up from your doc, access the publishing settings for the doc, click into the Advanced settings section, and make sure the Sign up modal option is enabled. Now, as users browse your doc, Coda will show them a prompt to sign up. This simply increases the chances of a new user signing up for a Coda account from your account.

Sign up through doc copies

In addition to the sign up modal described above, users can also sign up for Coda when they make copies of your published docs. If a new user presses the Copy doc button, Coda will prompt them to sign up. Therefore, we recommend toggling on the Allow others to copy this doc option in the publishing settings.

ℹ️ If you are not part of our affiliate program, you will still receive Coda credit when someone signs up through your published docs. However, you will not be eligible to receive cash for any upgrades.

FAQs

How much can I earn through Coda’s affiliate program?

Cash: There is no limit on how much cash you can earn through PartnerStack. Check out the revenue estimator on this page to get a sense of the kind of revenue you can make based on different levels of traffic and how well your docs and links convert.

Credit: Our hope with this program is that our top advocates can use Coda without having to worry about the cost. Therefore, we have a $500 lifetime credit limit.

How do I find and use my credit?

You worked hard enough to earn your credit, so no need to worry about coupon codes, golden tickets, or excessive button clicks. Credits automatically apply to your workspace when you pay, or the next time a bill rolls around. You can find your current credit balance by navigating to the Workspace plan section of your admin settings. At the bottom of this page, you’ll see a Referral balance section.

If you are in more than one workspace, you can select which workspace you want the credit applied to via your account settings. Navigate to coda.io/account, scroll to the Publishing section, and locate the Referral credit field. Here you can use the dropdown to select the correct workspace.

How do I receive cash from the affiliate program?

Any cash earned via the affiliate program will be available to you in PartnerStack. Learn more about getting paid through PartnerStack here.

Does this program work outside the United States?

Yes! Credits can be applied to any workspace, no matter where you live. And payouts can be made to people in any country that supports either Stripe or Paypal, which covers the majority of the world. Please reach out if you are in a country where neither Stripe nor Paypal works.

Can I earn credits when people sign up after visiting an unpublished doc?

No, we currently do not track signups that originate from unpublished docs. You can only receive credit when someone signs up through your published doc (or via your affiliate link). Learn more about signups from published docs in the next FAQ.

How will people sign up from my published doc?

People can sign up to Coda from your published docs in two ways:

  1. Signups from a prompt: When you publish a doc to the Coda Gallery, you have the option to toggle on the Sign up modal (via the publishing settings). When this is toggled on, Coda will show users a prompt to sign up. This simply increases the chances of a new user signing up for a Coda account from your doc.

  2. Signups from doc copies: Users can also sign up from your doc by making a copy of your doc. When they do so, they will be prompted to sign up for Coda. We recommend enabling the doc copies option in the publishing settings, so that users will see the Copy doc button on the top of your doc.

What counts toward referrals and upgrades?

When someone signs up for Coda through your affiliate link or published doc, that counts as a referral. Referrals will net you a $10 credit.

If any workspace that was created by a referred user upgrades to a paid plan, you will earn cash equal to 20% of the first-year revenue from that workspace (even if the referred user didn’t pay for it themselves). Note that these cash earnings only apply if you’ve signed up for our affiliate program.

You will be paid based on the transactions in the workspace. So if the workspace pays for a yearly plan, you will get 20% of that yearly plan upgrade transaction. If new makers join the workspace during the year, you will get 20% of those transactions as well. Similarly, if the workspace is on a monthly plan, you will get 20% of every transaction for their plan, which could increase or decrease over the course of the year, depending on how many Makers the workspace is paying for.

Note: Coda reserves the right to review and adjust any transaction before making payouts.

Can I see stats on my referrals, upgrades, and payouts?

Yes! You can see statistics in your PartnerStack dashboard. Note this will not include the total amount of credit you have accrued since that is tracked on our system. You can find your credit balance under workspace settings → billing.

Can I sign up fake accounts?

C’mon. You know we have this FAQ here so we can say, “don’t sign up fake accounts.” If you try, we will find you, we will catch you, and we won’t allow you to use any of our cool programs again.

What if I already have a PartnerStack account?

If you already have a PartnerStack account and it uses a different email than your Coda account, you will need to manually link the two accounts. To do this, go to your PartnerStack account settings. Under Publishing, find the PartnerStack Partner Key tab and enter your PartnerStack key.

What if I was already using the old referral program?

Coda has recently made improvements to the affiliate program. Previously, makers were able to earn $10 in Coda credit for each new user they referred through their published docs. Now makers can continue earning $10 in Coda credit for each new user referred through their published docs in addition to earning 20% of their referrals’ first-year revenue when the referral upgrades to a paid Coda plan.

Coda credit from our previous referral program is still valid and will be automatically applied to your workspace.

For makers who had a link from the previous referral program, this link is still valid for earning Coda credit. However, in order to earn cash and Coda credit, we ask that you sign up for the updated affiliate program through PartnerStack.

Why are some signups missing from my dashboard?

If you believe that someone signed up through your affiliate link but you are not seeing them in your dashboard, this may be due to one of the following issues:

  1. The user may have had an ad-blocker or may have deleted their cookies. Since our referral program uses cookies to track attribution, using ad-blockers or deleting cookies may prevent us from properly tracking the signup.

  2. The user may have initially clicked your affiliate link, but then navigated to other webpages or links. This would result in us not being able to track the signup.
