Description
Hi everyone, I’m filing this issue to publicize our current roadmap and timelines. In short, we are at least a few weeks behind our original August timeline, but are working to get to v1.0.0 as soon as possible.
The primary reason for delay is changes to the handler API resulting from (1) support for Oauth (#237 and #243), and (2) some internal feedback we received from senior engineers about avoiding generic types (summarized in #327). We consider these changes to be important and too significant to land immediately before v1.0.0.
Our revised timeline is as follows:
- 2025-08-22: v0.3.0. This release will be effectively feature complete (except, notably, for client-side Oauth support), and will contain all the breaking changes we plan to make. However, since it introduces API changes, we want to allow some time for it to soak before declaring it a release candidate. We will soften the README language to say that this version is ready for use as long as you’re willing to tolerate possible further API changes in the v1.0.0 release.
- 2025-09-02: Public review / office hours. We’d like to hold a public meeting to discuss any ongoing issues, and/or discuss any feedback. More details to follow.
- 2025-09-09: v1.0.0-pre.1. The first prerelease will be our release candidate. If we discover critical bugs, we may tag subsequent prereleases.
- 2025-09-17: v1.0.0 (assuming no major problems with the prerelease). At this point we will enforce strict backwards compatibility.
We apologize for the delay. Thank you to all who have commented, filed issues, and contributed PRs.
